Superintendent’s Message

One Town - One Team - One Dream

Dear Athens Community,

There is much we can be thankful for.

Our students are #1. We see that in their academic success and growth, participation and development in various activities, and through their safe, responsible, and respectful behavior in our schools and community.

Our Staff. We are striving to meet the educational, social, and behavioral needs of our students.

Our Board of Education. Through the strategic plan, our annual goals are focused on student growth and development.

Our Community. Your support brings us together as One Town - One Team - One Dream.

Nearly one-fourth of the 2016-2017 school year is now completed and we are especially proud of our girls’ volleyball team who played at the state WIAA Volleyball Tournament in Green Bay for the first time in 40 years.

To bring you up to date on the 2016-17 budget, our district experienced equalized land value growth of 3.6% (in comparison to 3.1% for Marathon County). In turn, our tax levy to the citizens of our district was reduced 4.2% with a mil rate of $11.68 last year to $11.19 for this year.

This year, we also gained students! After a five year decline, we have a small increase. We will continually monitor student enrollments over time for the health of the district.

Respectfully yours, Timothy A. Micke Superintendent
