The Athens High School National Honor Society (NHS) rang the bell for the Salvation Army during Small Business Saturday in the Village of Athens. This school year, Mr. John Greenwood, a communications consultant from the WI Institute for Public Policy and Service, is working with the Athens Middle School staff to facilitate leadership classes. Each week, there is a different leadership project for both 6th and 7th grades. The students are enjoying learning how to communicate efficiently while sharpening their leadership skills.

Athens Middle School Student Council wrapped up their "Hallow Fun" week. Games were played, pumpkins were found, and of course, there were dress-up day. Costume day was the most popular of the dress-up days. The 8th grade won the most costumes worn by a class. AMS is still looking for Waldo. Where is he?







The Athens High School National Honor Society (NHS) and the Athens Acres 4-H club met to Make A Difference to the elderly/disabled in the Village of Athens. The two groups worked together to rake and remove leaves. Nine yards were raked in two hours. Many friends and parents also assisted. Community service in action!

The Athens Middle School is having a great time celebrating their Spirit Week to coincide with AHS's Homecoming Week. Today was 80s and 90s day.








The Athens High School Freshman Class spent a day at Forest Springs near Westboro, WI, learning about team-building skills while going through their High Ropes course. The group had a great day learning to help each other while building their own self-esteem.







Six students were inducted into the Athens High School National Honor Society (NHS). The new inductees learned about scholarship, character, leadership, and community service as the four tenets to NHS. Current members were the presenters for the parents and inductees. Their first group community service project with be the Make A Difference Day leaf raking in Athens.

The Athens Distinguished Alumni awards were presented this Sunday at the Athens High School Commons. This year's recipients are: the Marchel Sisters-Kathy Heier (70), Carol Marchel (71) and Mary Ann Marchel (77), Tom (81) and Lorene (82) Mueller, and Keith Sjostrom (80). Nominations for more distinguished alumni will open again next February.

The 8th grade class spent time with the AES/MGCS 5th Graders who will be attending Athens Middle School in fall to explain what being a middle schooler is all about! The group was broken up in six teams where games were played, snacks were eaten, and a lot of valuable information was given. Important topics included: lunch recess, schedules, and homework. Mr. John Greenwood assisted in this leadership program. Athens Middle School: Here we come!
