Ms Etten’s first graders at Maple Grove are reminded every day of the beauty, happiness, and purpose that comes from having nature right out our classroom windows. We try to never take it for granted and picking up a piece of trash is natural during a recess, but often non existent😊🌲🌳Earth Day today was an opportunity to once again read and write about what we can do to help the Earth🌍 . Of course it is always fun and educational to add a hands on craft. (Using recycled noodles from 100th day of school activities👍🏻😊)
“You cannot get through a single day without having an impact on the world around you.
What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make.”
Dr Jane Goodall
Happy Earth Day!

The chickens have arrived at Maple Grove Charter School.
As a result, there are so many thank you's to distribute.
Thanks to all of the families for signing the permission slips to allow for this hands-on learning experience to occur.
Thanks also to the Kohnhorst Family for loaning us their Barred Rock Chickens (3 hens & 1 rooster).
Thanks also to River Country Co-op for providing the bedding & feed.
Thanks to Mr. Bloch (custodian) for setting up the coop and getting it ready.
Thanks also to Mrs. Williams for implementing hard-boiled eggs into our breakfasts and lunches.
Again, supported activities like this are what make Maple Grove Charter School one-of-a-kind!

Music classes at Maple Grove Charter School are using Boomwhackers to Learn a number of music skills. Here 4th and 5th graders are learning how to read a score, note values, notes on the staff, rhythms and common chord progressions using selections of classical music.

Maple Grove Charter students experienced a maple sap to syrup day. They were able to observe the evaporation process several times and also had taste testings. YUM! Thanks to all of the volunteers, students and staff for making this a successful hands-on experience for everyone to enjoy.

Maple Grove Charter School is thankful to the Athens and Hamburg community for all the support to our little red schoolhouse! Our 9th annual fundraiser at the Hamburg Town Hall was amazingly successful do to the support of our families and community members! We could not have fed over 500 people without our fantastic volunteers and donors, we are grateful!

We are all ready for our 9th Annual Pancake Breakfast for Maple Grove Charter School! Come enjoy some regular or potato pancakes with all the extras at the Hamburg Town Hall from 9:00-1:00. We have over 25 raffles and Fresh Maple Syrup from our school’s very own Maple Trees!

Kindergarten students from Maple Grove Charter School recently began a new exploratory unit: "Trees are Alive"! Our first topic covered the difference between living and nonliving things. This called for a scavenger hunt where students were encouraged to think about the criteria for all living things: needing food, water, air, and growing/moving by itself.

A little blast from the past on this throwback Thursday!
Maple Grove’s first tapping was in 1970 by Mrs. Arlene Teske’s first grade class. The first graders collected 80 gallons of sap to get 5 gallons of Maple Syrup.
At Maple Grove Charter School we currently have over 160 trees tapped and have collected over 800 gallons of sap.

Come and enjoy some delicious regular and potato pancakes at our 9th annual Maple Grove Charter School Breakfast on Sunday, April 10, from 9:00-1:00 at the Hamburg Town Hall. Tickets sold at MGCS, Eddie's Bar, Athens IGA, Ed. & Sharon's, or at the door. Raffles will also be available! Hope to see you there!

The Maple Grove kindergarten class earned another CRISP trait reward on St. Patrick's Day. In addition to holiday themed activities, they celebrated their accomplishment by enjoying rainbow jello! I was told the snack was a "10 out of 5" and "it was the best day ever." Nothing beats their level of excitement! 💚

Second grade learners at Maple Grove created their own hand made paper. We used recycled scrap paper and then added our own natural dyes, glitter and even seeds. Once the paper dried, we were able to write on it and even plant it in dirt to grow a flower garden.

Kindergarten students at Maple Grove patiently waited a whole week to collect their sap! They quickly realized how tiring this process can be (even with the help of their 4/5th grade buddies!) but enjoyed it all the same. Our class collection measured exactly 2.5 gallons and we are prepared for more!

We are excited to welcome new learners to Maple Grove Charter School! Please scan the QR code if you would like to apply to enroll your child into MGCS for the 2022-2023 school year. Only new learners need to apply. If you have any questions or would like a tour please contact our office at 715-257-2199. We look forward to meeting you and your family!

Second graders at Maple Grove responded to their pen pals at Athens Elementary this week! It is one of the fun ways we stay connected. Reading the letters from their new friends brings so many smiles! ✏️📝🦊🧡

Come and and enjoy some delicious pancakes! Dine in or Carry-Out.

Kindergarten students had an eventful afternoon tapping trees! This was a first time for many, but certainly not their last. We can't wait to begin collecting and learning more about the maple syrup process first-hand!

The tradition continues!🍁 It was a fantastic day to have first grade tap trees for the upcoming season😊 Nothing quite compares to watching the excitement, curiosity, learning, and memories that come from the experiences at Maple Grove Charter School!
-I’m reminded each and every day of how lucky we are out the “little red schoolhouse” 📚😊 thank you to the volunteers that shared in the excitement of today!

Due to inclement weather, the Maple Grove Governance Board meeting scheduled for Monday, March 14, 2022 has been cancelled.

4th/5th grade learners at Maple Grove painted this mural. Can you see the hidden animal?
