Maple Grove Charter School had the opportunity to decorate these cookie sleeves for Auntie Ray’s Coffee House, in Merrill! Love their creativity and imagination 💕

Congratulations to our 3 finalists, Olive Primm-1st, Fynn Beasley-2nd, and Marty Servi-3rd place for Maple Grove Charter School’s Spelling Bee! On to the regional competition in Stratford!

As one student's shirt read today: "We survived 100 days of kindergarten!"
Those at Maple Grove felt very accomplished after sharing what they learned in kindergarten so far. We celebrated by having a 100 candy kiss hunt and a filling snack to clearly see the composition of 100. Some seemed to think this day meant the school year was complete, but their learning has only just begun! 🤗

Maple Grove fifth grade students visited the Merrill School Forest last week. Mr. Noland and friends of the forest taught students fire building, shelter construction, and cross country skiing! It was a fun two days of outdoor education.

First graders at Maple Grove Charter School have been hard at work studying the Sun, Moon, and Stars☀️🌗⭐️ The EL module 2 unit 2 looked closely at the phases of the moon and what makes night and day. Students were more than happy to end the unit by showing the phases with Oreos! 🌒

Learners each created their own colorful feather designs, and we put them all together to make our wing display.

The School District of Athens campus administrators are amazing!
Thank you Robin, Joy, and Juli for all that you do to support students, families, and staff.

Ms. Riehle's kindergarten students started learning about weather around the world! They recently explored how polar animals survive in freezing temperatures by digging burrows and staying warm with feathers and extra fat. We explored one particular body difference by testing cold water with and without shortening on our hands. With this extra layer of "fat", the body heat in some polar animals doesn't escape as quickly. They loved this engaging (and messy) activity!

Each moth learners set their own nightly reading goal and work all month to achieve that goal with weekly check-ins. At the end of the month we have a celebration for meeting their goals. This month it included rotations of sledding, snow painting, hot chocolate, and musical chairs. Enjoy some highlights from our afternoon https://youtu.be/k6eTwZMMSDo

At Maple Grove, Ms. Szutkowski's fifth grade students presented their work after weeks of research, planning, and writing their 5-paragraph essays. Well done!

Kindergarten students at Maple Grove Charter School chose a fort-building activity after earning their whole class CRISP trait reward. It certainly took some perseverance and collaboration, but they accomplished this tricky task and had a blast!

Made with LOVE at Maple Grove Charter School at recess💕

The littlest foxes at Maple Grove Charter School have been learning all about Weather Wonders! One of the four components of weather includes wind. We recently read the book “The Wind Blew” and students guessed whether the wind would move various classroom objects. After performing an activity where their breath simulated the wind, we discussed how stronger wind storms (hurricane, tornados, and gales) are more likely to move heavier objects than a small breeze.

Singalong at Maple Grove Charter School for a Happy Holiday send off for Winter break. Merry Christmas and Happy new Year. See you all in 2022.

Maple the Fox and Santa came to visit and deliver gifts to students and teachers at Maple Grove Charter School.

Maple Grove fifth grade students received books of their very own thanks to donors who participated in Ms. Szutkowski's Classrooms Count fundraiser. They are excited to get reading over winter break, and are already making wish lists for their next book order!

A big THANK YOU to Fisher Transportation for the box of goodies for the staff at MGCS and the beautiful card and calendar! We appreciate you and all you do to get our learners to and from school safely!
